Cartes de viande sous la convention nationale

Alphonse Aulard

Abstract

During French revolution Paris introduced rationing of bread and meat by means of ration cards. Although a lot of decrees concerning the introduction and the usage of bread cards are known, it seems that no specimen of a bread ration card survived to our time. However, the National Archives in Paris posses two meat ration cards. One of them was presented in the following article reprinted from “La Révolution Française: Revue d’histoire moderne et contemporaine”, Paris, 1917, pp. 296-299. The author, Alphone Aulard, was the editor of the monumental Recueil des actes du Comité de salut public.
